We regret to announce the passing of Mary A. Hashem, 89, of 105 Spruce Haven Dr., Sydney on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short illness.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Bessie (Hashem) Hashem.
She was a member of St. Anthony Daniel parish, Sydney. Mary was employed with Revenue Canada in Sydney until her retirement.
She is survived by a brother, Peter (Annie) Hashem, Howie Centrel and her sister, Katherine Casseli of Florida, USA; also by nephews, Isaac Hashem, Halifax, Kevin Hashem, Sydney, and Michael Hashem of Ohio, USA; as well as their children, whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her brother, Paul F. Hashem and sister, Theresa Hashem.
Visitation for Mary Hashem will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
