Frances Eugenia MacLean, 80, of Point Aconi passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1929, in Neil’s Harbour, the daughter of the late Philip and Martha Payne, Neil’s Harbour.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda (Dane), Big Harbour, Dawana (Darrell), Point Aconi, Dorothy (Svein), St. Catharines, Ont., Valerie (Kevin) Tarbot, Norma (Bobby), Baddeck, Barbara (Kevin), Sydney, Nancy (Dougie), Tarbot, Ronnie (William), Big Harbour, Mary (Guy), St. Catharines, Ont., Connie (Donald), North Sydney; sons, Frankie (Margie), Sydney Mines, Neil (Roxanne), Sydney Mines, Raymond (Sharon), North Sydney, Teddy (Sharon), Big Harbour; sister, Phyllis, Sydney Mines, Stella (Keith), Sydney Mines; brothers, George (Joyce), North Sydney, John, St. Catharines, Ont., Alden (Caroline), St. Catharines, Ont., James Sprickles LeBlanc, North Sydney. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John H. MacLean, sister, Sarah, son, Hugh, Alexander ‘Sandy’, daughters, Cora Grace, Mildred Louise.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Norma Mills officiating. Burial in Point Aconi Cemetery.
