HICKMAN, Harold Frank – (Aug 7, 1945 – July 28, 2011). After a courageous battle with cancer on July 28, 2011 at the age of 65. Predeceased by father Wallace and father-in-law Bernard of Newfoundland. Leaving to mourn beloved wife Norma Catherine (nee Sooley) of 42 years, daughters Gillian (Chris Goddard) and Susan Hickman (Drew Allgoewer), mother Ruby (nee Hillier), mother-in-law Jessie, brother Cecil (Rose) and their three children. He will also be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and by many friends in Newfoundland. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to all family and friends, especially Dr. Jane Batten for your endless support, Dr. Scott Harris for going above and beyond a nephew’s love and Barb and other staff at Carefor. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland Harold received his CGA in 1978 before moving the family to Nova Scotia, Lahr, Germany and finally to Ottawa. Harold retired from DND after 35 years in 2001 to pursue his dream of living in Florida and enjoying his passion for golf. Relatives and friends will be received at Heritage Funeral Home, 2871 St. Joseph Blvd., Orléans, on Monday, August 1st, 2011 from 12 – 2 p.m. followed by ceremony in his memory in the Heritage Chapel at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold’s memory to Carefor Health & Community Services or Victoria’s Quilts Canada would be appreciated.
