McCARTHY, MARJORIE - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marjorie Ann McCarthy, which occurred on Sunday July 31, 2011 at the Palliative Care Unit, SJRH, after complications of Metastatic Melanoma. Born 1946 in Ipswich, England, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Joyce (Double) Potten. Marjorie, also known as the cribbage master, loved animals, enjoyed road trips with her late husband Michael McCarthy and spending time at their camp in the “Narrows”. She had a kind heart and every year as a legal secretary for Cox-Palmer she would adopt a family in need and provide them with a Christmas basket. She is survived by her son Russell O’Blenis of Calgary, AB; daughter Kelly (Jason Strijack) O’Blenis of Chilliwack, BC; step-sons Scott (Shannon) McCarthy of Quispamsis and Sean McCarthy of Fort McMurray, AB; grandchildren Tyler O’Blenis, Logan McCarthy and Ava McCarthy; best friend Bette as well as several cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A memorial service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday August 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
