Catherine ‘Cathy’ Jean Thomson, 45, passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2009, at McKenney Creek Hospital in Maple Ridge, B.C., after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her mom and sisters were by her side.
Cathy is survived by her daughter, Taylor, 15, and son, Tanner, 14; her mom, Jean MacDonald (Bramwell), Glace Bay; sisters, Paula, B.C., Tammy, Dominion, Tammy’s children, Jordan, Amanda and Alyssa.
She was predeceased by her father, D’Arcy Thomson and grandparents, Art and Bertha Bramwell.
Cathy taught in various schools in Vancouver and Maple Ridge at the time of her illness and worked in the International Education Program as a councillor.
A candlelight vigil was held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Maple Ridge, and funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009.
Cathy’s solace in leaving this earth is that she will once again be with her Nana and Grandy Bramwell.
Cremation has taken place with interment in Glace Bay. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at St. John’s Church in Glace Bay, at 11 a.m. for family and friends.
