It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Mary Ann Sarah MacLean, age 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister on Aug. 7, 2011, at Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Gillis Point, Mary Ann Sarah was the daughter of the late Jimmie Allan and Mary Elizabeth MacNeil.
She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Ellen Matheson (Duncan), Rosaire Jenkins (Rudy), Bernadette Matheson (David), Annie Florence Skidmore (Frank); two sons, Roddie James (Debbie) and Michael. Special family member, Nancy MacLean and her children, Lauren and Carla and good friend, Donna Ross; grandchildren, Sylvia Bernard (Norman), Daniel Matheson (Renée), Charles Matheson (Jill), Melanie Skidmore, Jenna Skidmore and Cheryl Matheson; great-grandchildren, Adian Matheson, Dakota, Dylan and Dustin Bernard; one sister, Annie Catherine MacDonald; as well as several nieces and nephews and special nieces, Margaret Ann MacInnis and Elizabeth MacNeil.
Mary Ann was predeceased by husband, Michael Dan; son, Lauchlan; grandson, Darrell and brothers, Columbia, Michael Allan, Rodrick and Donald Joseph.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to doctors, nurses and all staff at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, as well as Alderwood staff and home care workers.
Memorial donations may be made to Alderwood Rest Home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. Funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Baddeck, with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating.
