It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Jane Veronica Forsyth, 67, of Forsyth Street, New Waterford, on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Perry Settlement, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Milledge and Helen (Miller) Gregg.
Jane was a member of Calvin United Church in New Waterford. In 1964, she married Donald Forsyth, a member of the Canadian Military, and the two travelled throughout the country where she was employed at various jobs. More recently, she was employed at the sugar refinery in Saint John, N.B., and later worked as a blueprint processor at Hermes Electronics in Dartmouth.
Jane loved to fish, namely jigging cod in Red Point or on the Bras d’Or Lakes. She also enjoyed gardening and knitting. To keep her mind active, even in her final days, she watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and completed numerous crossword puzzles.
Jane was considered to be a kind, generous and loving woman who was always smiling and optimistic about life. With Jane, the cup was always half full. She was also a good listener to those who wanted to share a story or their concerns.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church, New Waterford, with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow in Calvin Hall. Jane will be taken to the church at noon on Wednesday.
