It is with love and wonder that we announce the death of Margaret Edalice Starzomski (nee Martin).
Love for the woman who was kind always, and wonder that one person could have meant so much to so many.
Margaret was born in Sydney, N.S., to James Lyle Martin (deceased) and Kenina Martin (deceased), and passed away Aug. 23, 2011, at home surrounded by her family.
She graduated from Sydney Academy and Acadia University with a major in English and a minor in Library Studies. At the time of her retirement, she was the librarian at St. Andrew Junior School in Antigonish. She married the love of her life, Larry, on Aug. 14, 1971, at St. Andrew’s Church in Sydney, and subsequently moved to Antigonish. From there she raised three loving boys and developed her love of travelling, food, and spending time at the family cottage in Ben Eoin. Keywords that characterize Margaret’s life most often included: caregiving, family, friendship, love, grandchildren, reading, travel, Ben Eoin, nature and kind soul. She loved sports including baseball, hockey and football, and had a real appreciation for golf at the highest levels — the Masters.
She is survived by her husband, John Lawrence ‘Larry’ Starzomski of Antigonish; her sons, Brian (Aimee Pelletier), Victoria, B.C., Kevin (Mandy), Antigonish and Stephen, Halifax; grandchildren, Brenna Margaret Anne Starzomski, Lauren Alice Starzomski and Zachary Wren Martin Starzomski.
Visitation for Margaret will be held Thursday at C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
