It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Cathy Dawn (MacLeod) Whittle.
Born in Point Edward, she was the daughter of Evelyn and the late Norman MacLeod. She was a graduate of Riverview Rural High School and the CNA program at Cape Breton Regional Vocational School. Cathy worked at Portage Mutual Insurance Co. in Bedford for the last seven years. Cathy had a great zest for life, friends and laughter. She was lucky enough to have met her soulmate, Ralph, the love of her life and together they shared many interests including playing darts with their friends at Bedford Legion.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Ralph; their 10 year old son, Evan; stepchildren, Cynthia (Tony), Michael; special grandchildren, Haley, Owen, Shane, Shawn; her mother, Evelyn MacLeod, Halifax; sister, Anna Marie (Brian MacNevin), Point Edward; brothers, Gordon, Moncton, John, Coldbrook, Ronnie, Dartmouth; father-in-law, Tom Whittle; nieces and nephews, Darlene, Shauna (Rudy), Mark (Lana), Jonathan, Travis, Stephaine, Shaun (Sharon), Lindsay, Paige, Malcolm, Jenny, Sara, Kimberly and special great-nieces and nephew, Gabriela, Antonio and Sara; uncle, Jack (Pat) Morrison, Baddeck.
Cathy was predeceased by her father, infant son, Andrew; infant twin brothers; mother-in-law, Lena and stepfather, Edgar Richard.
Cathy was diagnosed with cancer in May 2009 and with the support of her family and friends she fought the good fight, her humour never failing.
Her family would like to thank her circle of friends for their love and support.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Palliative Care 7A, the VG Site, QEII.
Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayer’s Road, Halifax. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday in Edgewood United Church. Burial at a later date. Reception to follow in the church hall.
