Mary Eileen Delaney of Calgary, formerly of Glace Bay, beloved daughter of the late William and Laura Delaney, passed away on September 19, 2009.
Born and raised in Glace Bay, she was a graduate of St. Anne’s School and Mt. St. Bernard College. She spent most of her working career in the insurance industry.
Mary was a great lover of music, a passion she shared with her beloved brothers and sisters, and was well known to her many friends as a fine pianist, for her great wit, and for her sense of style.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret and Sr. Eugenie Delaney, and by her brothers, Bill, John H., Joe, Roy, Francis and Godfrey.
She is survived by her nephews, Bill Delaney (Joan), Glace Bay, and Coady Delaney (Rita), Sydney, and by her grand-niece and grand-nephews, Laura, John, Mark and Michael Delaney.
Mary’s remains have been cremated, and a funeral mass was celebrated in Calgary.
For those who would like to wish Mary farewell, there will be a memorial service in Curry’s Funeral Chapel, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Leo Boone presiding.
