Donald Anthony ‘Donnie’ Beaton, 91, Harbourview, Inverness County, passed into eternal life Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Born in Harbourview, he was the son of the late Murdock and Mary Christina (MacDonnell) Beaton.
Donnie will be remembered as a kind, gentle man of strong faith; leisure time found him motorcycling, bowling, skating, gardening, tree planting and enjoying God’s creation. With the rank of lance corporal he served in the Army during the Second World War. After selling his real estate in Halifax and Dartmouth in 1991 he and his wife Mary, retired to Harbourview.
He is survived by wife of 46 years, Mary (MacDonald); sisters, Isabel and Christine CND, both of Halifax; Lillian (Steve) Csordas, Toronto; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Florence, CND and brothers, John Joseph (Betty), Cyril (Kathleen), Winfred (Margaret).
Resting in St. Peter’s Parish Hall, Port Hood, today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be offered Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s parish cemetery.
