Ernest Connell
CONNELL, ERNEST DOUGLAS - At his residence on September 10, 2011, Mr. Ernest Douglas Connell, husband of the late Mrs. Lorna Carolyn (Greene) Connell of Breadalbane NB. Born at St. George NB on May 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Vernon and Alma (Hill) Connell. A loving father, grandfather and brother he is survived by one daughter, Deborah Ann Connell of Saint John NB, three sons; Brian Douglas Connell of Calgary AB, Robert Ernest Connell of Breadalbane NB and David Wayne (Kim) Connell of Grand Bay-Westfield NB, he will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Justin and Jocelyn, one sister Jean Connell-Griffin of Perth ON, nieces; Kim and Judy, nephew, Bruce and several cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Ernest was predeceased by one brother, Vaughan. Prior to his retirement, Ernest was employed with CP Rail starting as a Traveling Auditor and finishing his career in Customer Service. He was employed at various locations throughout his career including St. Andrews, McAdam, Winnipeg, Sudbury and finally in Saint John. After employment, Ernest enjoyed a long and happy retirement, most of which was spent with his loving wife Lorna, traveling and staying in touch with their many friends. He was an animal lover who enjoyed bird watching and the company of dogs, especially Airedales. In his leisure time he enjoyed a good game of Scrabble or playing a round of Golf. Ernest was a lifelong member of the Conservative Party of NB and a member of the Saint John Naturalist Club. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
By Ernest’s request there will be no visitation or service. A gathering to share memories and stories will be held at his home in Breadalbane on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 1 to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank the nurses with the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural Program who have been so kind and thoughtful during these times, your compassion and support with never be forgotten.
