BRUN, ARMAND E. - 1934 - 2011 - Optimist and bon vivant Armand Brun, of Dieppe, NB, passed away on Monday, September 12th, 2011, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, after living 76 wonderful years. His zest for life remained throughout his final hours as he recalled stories full of love and laughter with family and friends who surrounded him. Born in Bas Cap-Pelé, NB, he was the son of the late Emery and the late Elise (née: Landry) Brun. A dynamic, die hard liberal who was interminably positive, Armand believed in living his life to the fullest and making those around him feel special. By his own admission, he was the consummate salesman, enjoying connecting with people and igniting a spark with those who crossed his path. Armand believed in spreading the fun, whether by raising money for the liberal party (even courting doctors, nurses and other patients), playing poker and golf, or dining on lobster twice a week with a glass of wine in hand. But most of all, Armand loved to help his family and friends, always jumping in to help someone find their way. He was first President of the Dieppe Lions Club, Director of the Dieppe Recreation Council, Councillor for the Town of Dieppe (1971-1974), Member of the Champlain Club, Beausejour Curling Club, Elks Club, Moncton Press Club, and Lakeside Golf and Country Club. Armand co managed the Dieppe Red Sox ball team, the Maritime team chosen and elected to the Dieppe Wall of Fame. He also managed the Moncton Senior Schooners. Armand was a past member of the Insurance Board of New Brunswick, three times elected President of the Dieppe, Memramcook, Lewisville Liberal Association and Chief Fund Raiser for the party in the Moncton area. Armand is survived by his soul mate and wife of 55 years, Norma Brun (Gagnon), and their six children: Nicole Brun-Kelly (Daniel), Paulette Melanson (Jean-Denis), Lise Brun, Louise Brun, Armand Brun, Jr., and Lynn Brun (Jennifer); four grandchildren: Nathalie Kelly (Mike), Renée Melanson (Chris), Monique Robinson and Daniel Brun, as well as his great grandchild, Damien and two more bundles of joy on their way this year; four sisters: Maria (Jean-Paul) Maillet, Eva (Wilfred) Mazerolle, Aline Savoie and Laurida (Marcel) Brun; two brothers: Romuald (Dina) and Régis, along with the hundreds of Brun relatives living in and beyond his proud hometown of Cap-Pelé. He was predeceased by two sisters: Léoline Saulnier and Lorraine Leger as well as by four brothers: Alfred, Aimé, Omer and Adrice.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, (857-1901), on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and also on Friday from 9: 30 am until time of service. Funeral mass will be celebrated from the Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, (corner of Amirault St. and Melanson Rd.) Dieppe, NB on Friday, September 16th, 2011 at 10: 30 am with Fr. Arthur Bourgeois officiating. Interment in Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations to the Dr Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated by the family.
