James 'Jimi' Reddick

James Robert ‘Jimi’ Reddick passed away on Sept. 7, 2011, at Chilliwack Regional Hospital in British Columbia.
James recently moved to Harrison Hot Springs British Columbia from Grande Cache, Alta., but was formerly from Glace Bay, N.S. and raised in Lincolnville and Guysborough, N.S. He was a devoted husband, father and a wonderful brother. James served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a supply technician and served at many bases in Canada as well as serving six years in Germany. After 20 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1995. Upon his military retirement, James continued to serve and protect by trading one uniform for another. James joined Corrections Canada as a Correctional Officer. James worked at Grande Cache Institution, Alberta and Mission Institution in British Columbia where he became ill and retired on a disability leave.
James was very active in sports such as fastball, basketball, darts, hockey, fishing and hunting. James played extraordinary basketball at Morrison High School during his senior years even playing against the Harlem Globetrotters. He was a community activist and involved in events such as union business, cubs, boy scouts, and organized youth sports. James was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Grande Cache.
James is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, James, Harrison Hot Springs, B.C.
James was the son of the late James and Josephine (Cormier) Reddick.
Survived by sisters, Ardella (Wilfred), Lincolnville, Mary (Everett), Upper Big Tracadie, Linda and Shelby, Edmonton, Doreen (Micheal) Porter’s Lake, Jacqueline (Leslie) Truro, Barbara (Norm) Sunnyville. Brothers, Samuel (Gladys), Glace Bay, Micheal (Pamela), Edmonton, Francis (Marilyn), Edmonton, William (Tammy), Glace Bay, David (Betty), Glace Bay; sister-in-law, Jeannie (Ken); longest and dearest friend, Rita Jardine, Greenwood; godchildren, Tyrone and Tanisha, numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by sisters, Winifred, Sheila, Donna and brothers, John, Jerry and Glen.
There will be a Celebration of Life/memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. at St Mary’s Church Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, officiated by Rev Vernon Reid.
