Peggy Richard, 60 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of Layton Porter (Joan) & Eileen Ripley (Robert) all of Fenwick, N.S.
She was employed with RBC for 35 years. She was a very active member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association serving as treasurer. Peggy served on the board of directors for Small Options Organization. Peggy was a spokes person for Convoy for a Cure. She loved gardening, crib, darts. She enjoyed cooking and baking. A giving person, Peggy was always there to lend a hand. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.
Peggy will be greatly missed by her husband, David; daughters, Tera Mitchell (Chris) of Amherst, Angela Spicer of Amherst; sons, Eric Richard (Nadine) of Amherst, Sean Spicer (Heidi) of Sackville, NB, Daniel Spicer of Charlottetown, PEI; sisters, Debbie McKillop (Robert) of Boundary Creek, NB, Joanne Menzies (Jack) of Rusagonis NB, Kim Ripley of Fenwick, NS, Heather Ripley (Gordon) of Fenwick,NS, Charlene Nelson (Bruce) of Timberlea, NS; brother, Todd Ripley (Karrie) of Fenwick, NS; grandchildren, Seth, Cairo, Aurelia, Colin, Austin; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Terry Ripley.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst, NS, where the family will receive visitors on Tuesday, September 20th, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Furlong- Jones Chapel on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Charles Nativity Cemetery, Amherst, NS.
