SMITH, Isabel Esther – 82, born Aug. 26, 1929, Middleton, NS, passed away Aug. 31, 2011 at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, ON, after a brief illness, peacefully, with family by her side. She resided in Ottawa, ON, Regina and Saskatoon, SK, Lakeville and Berwick, NS before moving to Mount Albert, ON. She was the only daughter of Melbourne and Evelyn Armstrong. She was predeceased by husband Harold (Harry) Barling Smith (1990) and granddaughter Meghan Laing-Smith (1993). She assisted Harry in his survey business and farming endeavors. In later years she became a CNA and worked at the NS Sanatorium, Kentville, NS and Kings County Rehab Center, Waterville, NS. In her retirement she traveled extensively and pursued many hobbies. Isabel is survived by her children – Eric (Shirley), Kingston, NS, Donald (Margareta), Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC, Michael (Cecelia), Guelph, ON, David (Maureen), Herring Cove, NS, Roderick (Cathy), Lower Sackville, NS, Colleen (Stephen) Orr, Uxbridge, ON; Grandchildren – Marsha, Gregory, Amy, Blake, Derek, Alex, Bradley, Kayley, Matthew, Conrad and Garrett, Great-granddaughters – Taylor and Hayley; Brother Bill (Doris) Armstrong, Middleton, NS. She also leaves behind a large extended family and her many dear friends. A memorial service was held in Mt. Albert, ON. Interment will be in Berwick, NS, at a later date.
