PARKS (Chase), Thelma Grace – 74, Aylesford/Morden, Kings Co. The family of Thelma Parks is sad to announce her passing at Grand View Manor, Berwick, on Thursday, September 15, 2011. She is survived by her brothers, George Chase (Marlene), Debec, N.B.; David Chase, Aylesford; sister-in-law, Ginny Chase, Middleton; a niece and three nephews; daughters, Carmen (Reg Clem), Morden; Kim (Barry Ward), Aylesford; sons, Rollie Hannifan (Heather), Kentville; David Hannifan (Amanda), Halifax; grandchildren, Carrie, Christy, Kelly, Alan, Amanda, Alayna, Branden, Colin, Matthew, Scott, Cassandra and Zach; great-grandchildren, Sable and Margaret, Tristan, and Rhylo. Mum was born in Berwick, to the late Bill and Dorothy (Baltzer) Chase and spent her childhood on their apple farm in Woodville. Many stories were told about those days growing up with two younger brothers and her Baltzer and Chase cousins nearby. Mum graduated from Mack Business College in 1954 and held various secretarial positions in the Valley, and at the Law Courts in Halifax. She was an efficient and dedicated secretary to Donald Hall for many years and really enjoyed the stimulation of a busy law practice. She retired from Stewart & Turner in 1992. In her spare time, Mum liked to knit, fish, play spirited games of 45’s and be entertained by her faithful companion ‘Brat’. She also liked to have her grandchildren around and they have fond memories of going fishing, baking, and having sleepovers at Nannie’s. Mum loved to talk about her children and grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Goddard and the staff of Grand View Manor for their compassionate care during Mum’s stay there. As per Mum’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Private family interment took place on Sunday, September 18, in the Berwick Cemetery. Mum loved animals, especially dogs, so donations can be made to the local SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900).
