MATTSSON, WILLIAM (BILL) WALTER - With heavy hearts the family of William (Bill) Walter Mattsson announces his passing on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on September 16, 1938, he was a son of the late Walter John and Agnes (McDonald) Mattsson. William is survived by his loving wife Gloria (Saunders) Mattsson of 50 years; sons William Arthur (Katherine Ann) of Rothesay, Gerald Wayne (Sharon Louise) of Rothesay; sisters Shirley Miles (Harold) of Hamilton, ON, and Bessie Mattsson of Saint John; cherished grandchildren Kristen, Kileigh, Will, Megan, and Lauren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws Bertha and Art Saunders. William worked for Canada Post for twenty seven years as a letter carrier. He volunteered for various groups; Loyalist City GRS Radio Club (30yrs), Cub Leader (20yrs), he was a long standing volunteer for the Jazz and Blues Festival. He was a member and former warden with All Saints Anglican Church, and was an avid card player with the men's group at the church.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting hours on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at 11:00am from All Saints Anglican Church, Park Avenue with Rev. Ed Coleman officiating.
