SIMMONDS, BESSIE - 1924-2011 - Miramichi - Bessie Simmonds, wife of Harold Simmonds, of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, and formerly of Duke Street, Miramichi, passed away at her residence, on Thursday morning, October 6, 2011, at the age of 87. Born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England, on August 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William S. and May (Oldfield) Parker. She was a homemaker; a member of the Women's Timber Corp., during the Second World War in England; a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi. She is survived by her husband, Harold; two daughters, Catherine M. Vautour (Lloyd), of Miramichi and Mary Elizabeth Innes (Herbert), of Riverview; one son, John F. Simmonds (Linda), of Vineland, Ont.; one brother, Frederick N. Parker, of Yorkshire, England; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, David L. Simmonds and one daughter in law, Joan Simmonds.
By request, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A public memorial service will be held from Calvin Presbyterian Church, on Wednesday, October 12, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Derek Krunys. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
