Born in 1975 in Amherst, to Rick and Karen (Schrage) Rhodes, Cheryl spent her childhood and teenage years growing up in the small village of River Hebert, a community she was proud to call home.
As a young girl Cheryl’s sweet and innocent personality made her a delightful student and cheerful classmate. Cheryl always enjoyed being part of everything social: Brownies, ballet and band in her younger years and soccer, Student Council and Yearbook during her high school years.
Cheryl’s scholastic abilities and leadership talents earned her many awards and achievements. Her passion for helping others led her to St. Francis Xavier University, where she graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
As a gentle caring nurse, Cheryl’s diverse experience encompassed many areas of healthcare - Gables Nursing Home, Highland View Hospital,
Public Health, Sick Kids - Toronto, IWK Health and Dartmouth General.
After marrying Dr. Chuck Wurster in 2004, Cheryl continued to work in the ER.
Together Chuck and Cheryl enjoyed travelling the world, taking in concerts, live theatre, and sporting events, and most of all getting together with family and friends.
As a loving Mommy to her precious daughter, Emma Claire, Cheryl never took a moment for granted. While enjoying every element of Emma’s world, Cheryl spent quality time instilling the beliefs, values and morals most dear to her.
Cheryl always remained loyal, reliable and true to all who were blessed to be her friend. Her many acts of kindness and generosity extended well beyond those close to her.
The courage and strength Cheryl portrayed throughout her life was nothing less than remarkable. Grounded in her faith, Cheryl was always positive and optimistic, believing there were lessons from her journey that could be learned by everyone.
