It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Cecilia ‘Sissy’ Whitty on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Miners’ Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.
Born in Ingonish but lived most of her life in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Elizabeth (Donovan) Whitty.
She was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines. Sissy loved people and enjoyed music.
Left to mourn are her sisters, Edith (Alex Johnson), Allina (Bartholomew MacLeod) and Charlotte (Patty White) and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Annie Jane and Veronica, her brothers, Lawrence and Steve and her stepbrothers, Jack McGean and Rob McGean.
Visitation today (Friday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
