Surrounded by his loving family in his 78th year, it is with great sadness they announced the passing of Alfred Joseph Hashie of Summerside, formerly of St. Chrysostome, on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside. Born Dec. 16, 1932, he was son of the late Austin and the late Sophie (nee Arsenault) Hashie. Survived by his spouse Edna Marie (nee Arsenault), dear farther of Angele (Jamie) Rix, Desmond, and Maurice (Natalie). Also survived by his brothers Joseph (Alberta), Urban, Raymond (Dorothy) and his sister Rose (Gill) Coughlin. Grandfather of Kristen and Ryan Rix and Marissa Hashie and brother-in-law of Doreen Hashie. Also survived by numerous brother-in-laws and sister in-laws. Predeceased by his brothers Johnny and Clarence and his sister Anna. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville, until Tuesday, Nov. 8, for funeral mass at 3 p.m. at St. Phillipe et St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay. Interment at St. Philippe et St. Jacques Cemetery at a later date. Visitation on Monday 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 1 to 2:30 p.m. Due to allergies, the family is requesting visitors refrain from using scented products. Memorial donations to the Cancer Society Fund would be appreciated.
