Christena (Tenie) Nauffts, 101 years, of Truro/Dominion, passed away at Cedarstone Enhanced Care Centre in Truro, N.S. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, with her family at her side.
Born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Nauffts. Tenie lived in Dominion, Cape Breton into her adult life and moved to Truro in 1971. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and a 50-year member of the Catholic Women's League. Tenie will be remembered and missed by all who knew her kind heart, her great sense of humour, compassion and her deep faith in the Lord.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Carson) Ferdinand; grandchildren, Michelle (Scott), David (Robin), Darren, Jaclyn (Tony) and great-grandchildren Paige, Brett, Madeline, Blake, Matthew, Luke, Raylee, Shea and Payton.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her infant brother John Martin and infant sister Mary Ann, Richard and John.
Visitation will take place Sunday Nov. 1, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St. Truro. A mass to celebrate Tenie's life will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Truro on Monday Nov. 2, 2009. The celebrant will be Father Gerald Dunphy and assisting will be Father Darius Miskowicz.
