Kennedy, Grace Elizabeth – Middle Stewiacke, or Mama as we all lovingly called her, passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by her family. Grace was born in Springhill on March 22, 1930 to the late Sidney and Lila McDonald. When she was 17 she moved to Truro where she later met her husband Alden David Kennedy of Middle Stewiacke. They devoted every day of their 60 years of marriage to each other and their family. Mama always put her family before herself. She was gracious and selfless and a true God-send. She also cared for her animals, especially her cats and her dog. Our Mom was never old. She is survived by her husband Alden, her four children David (Linda); Ron (Carla); Fred and Doris (Fraser); her ten grandchildren Brian, Danny, Jennifer, Rebecca, Amanda, Christopher, Janelle, Justin, Lyndsey and Jennilee; her four great grandchildren Kayla, Jenna, Lorelai and Thorin; Fraser’s two children Mark and Marcy and their families; her brothers Danny and Jim; her sisters Eleanor (Teed) Currie and Marion Perrin; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Art. There will be no public visitation or funeral by the family’s request. A private graveside service will be held. Donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
