BURKE, RALSTON - Ralston "Babe" Joseph Burke, 83, of Portage passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at The Moncton Hospital. Born July 21, 1928 in Oxford, N.S., he was the son of the late Alphée and Marguerite (Atkinson) Burke. Prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver and machine operator for A.J. Burke & Sons for 45 years. Ralston will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Anita (Bourque) Burke, their five children: Donald (Léonette) and Camilla Léger (Francis Murray) of Cap Pelé, Judy LeBlanc (Henri Devarenne) of Quispamsis, Normand Burke (Charline) of Portage, Sylvia Bourque (Guilmond Duguay) of Shediac River; 14 grandchildren: Sheila, Sharon, Keith, Ken, Krista, Kevin, Tanya, Penny, Bonnie, Jamie, Erika, Shane, Ryan and Scott; 12 great grandchildren: Arielle, Kim, Kris, Kristine, Félix, Amy, Brandon, Yanik, Chloe, Jordyn, Savannah, Leah; and two new babies on the way; one brother Fred Burke (late Marguerite) of Portage; two sisters: Yvonne Brun (late Gérard) and Ainée Richard (Dosithée) both of Shediac; two former son-in-laws Bernard LeBlanc and Ernest Bourque, and by many nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by a sister Louise Angevine (late Eddy), a brother Arthur Burke (late Ruby) and by a son-in-law Stanley Léger.
Visitation at Funérarium Frenette, 2642 Acadie Rd., Cap Pelé (577-3297) on Friday, from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of departure at 10:50 a.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste. Thérèse d'Avila Roman Catholic Church, Cap Pelé on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery.
