Sophie passed away peacefully at 91 years of age on Sunday November 13 2011 and has been called home to be with her Lord and Savior.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday November 19 at 1 pm at Bethany Manor in Saskatoon. Interment Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 20, at Tiefengrund Cemetery.
Sophie is survived by all 7 of her children: Phyllis (Bill) Kiss, Marlene (Dan King) Loewen, Elwyn (Danielle Richard) Loewen, Myrna (Frank) Gallagher, Lynette (Dale) Gregor, Duane (Lisa) Loewen, Bernice (Gary) Johnson; 13 grand-children and 5 great-grand-children. Sophie was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Henry Loewen (1999), her brothers Abram Friesen (1991), Gustav Friesen (1982) and Otto Friesen (1944) and her sisters Elizabeth Fieguth (1994) and Bertha Epp (1959).
Sophie Friesen was born April 19, 1920 in Rosthern, SK. She lived in the Laird area with her family and moved to Saskatoon at the age of 19 to work at her first job. In 1942 she married Henry and moved to Eyebrow, SK. Together, they farmed and also raised 7 children. Sophie was very active in her church and community. After Henry’s death she moved to Moose Jaw and then to Saskatoon where she lived in Bethany Manor with her many friends and relatives.
The family wishes to thank Sophie’s extended family and many friends for their visits, love and support; Bethany Manor staff for their constant care; and Jason and Shelley for their special attention and for making Sophie smile.
