It is with great sadness that the family of Sadie Ann Clothier announce her passing on to heaven, on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011, at the Regina General Hospital, after a short but hard fought illness. Sadie was born in Swift Current on November 12, 1945, to Jacob & Margaret Martens, the oldest sister to Marge, Jake, and Bill. The family lived in the village of Blumenort, and it was while walking down the village road, that she met her future love, Keith Clothier. Keith and Sadie were married at the Zion Mennonite Church in Swift Current on April 13, 1963, and they enjoyed over 48 happy years together. Sadie accepted her Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at a crusade in Swift Current in February 1961, and was baptised in this faith, along with her husband Keith, in May of 1964. Sadie lived her faith quietly and by example, and many have been influenced by her Godly example to take their own personal step of faith in trusting in Jesus Christ. We know that she will spend eternity in the presence of the Lord. The marriage of Keith & Sadie made a happy home for three children to enter it – Marlene, Lorraine, and Ryan. Keith was a school teacher, and the family moved to various places to follow his career. The children were blessed to have mom stay at home to provide home cooked meals, hand sewn clothing, and a listening ear when the kids got home from school. Sadie had many talents including gardening, sewing, reading, and baking. She loved to spend time in her soft living room chair reading books, the Bible and praying for her family. Sadie was known as a very hard worker, and she worked hard with Keith on the family dairy farm, and then after the dairy was sold, with extended family in the farming operation. She could often be seen walking across the yard with Lorraine, working with Ryan and the cattle, and canning or gardening with Marlene. The grandchildren treasured sleepovers too numerous to count, and were able to invite her to their various activities. Sadie is survived by her loving husband, Keith, of 48 years; her daughter, Marlene (George) Friesen - Mellisa (Dominick) Martens & Adalyn, Christine (Devin) Pinkney, and Tyler; her daughter: Lorraine (Dave) Dyck - Stephanie, Curtis, and Amanda: her son, Ryan (Heather) Clothier - Raylene, Vanessa, Marshal, and Chantal; her step-mother, Gertie Dueck; her siblings, Marge (Ben) Banman, Jake (Sheila) Martens, Bill (Brenda) Martens; Keith’s brother, Lloyd (Janice) Clothier; and by numerous nieces and nephews. .The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Bryon Bezanson officiating. The pianist for the service was Dianne Janzen with special music brought by Marlene Friesen, Lorraine Dyck & Ryan Clothier singing, “Where the Roses Never Fade”. Scripture was read from Psalms 16, 23, 84 & 121. Tributes were shared by Marlene, Lorraine & Ryan: by the Grandchildren: by Bill Martens on behalf of the siblings: and by a PowerPoint picture presentation. “Beautiful”, “There’s Just Something About that Name”, “Bind Us Together”, “The Family of God”, “Amazing Grace” and “My Jesus I Love Thee” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Bill Martens. The ushers in the church were Jake Driedger, Gord Klassen, Jake Janzen and Henry Fehr. The Private Family Interment Service was held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Ryan Clothier, Marshal Clothier, Dave Dyck, Curtis Dyck, George Friesen and Tyler Friesen. In memory of Sadie Clothier, donations made to Foundations For His Ministry, c/o World-Wide Missions Society of BC, PO Box11, Calgary, AB, Canada T2P 2G9 or to donate online at: www.ffhm.org would be appreciated by the family.
