Mary Alice (Leah) Moran
MORAN, LEAH - Mary Alice (Leah) Moran passed away peacefully at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Miramichi, on Monday, November 21st, 2011 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her parents Leo B. Moran and Rebecca (Molly) O’Kane, three brothers Gerald (Margie) (Fredericton), Bryan (Rita) (Bathurst), William (Miramichi), and two sisters Catherine (Joe) Holt and Margaret (John) Bowes both of Miramichi, as well as her life partner Richard (Dick) Woods. She is survived by her brother Ralph (Campbellton), and many nieces and nephews. During her youth, Leah spent many happy days on her grandparent’s farm in Douglasfield and was a lover of animals, the outdoors and playing Bingo. Although ‘Aunt Leah’ did not have her own children, she was a significant influence on the lives of her nieces and nephews. Her generosity was one of her greatest gifts. She was a mother figure who truly touched the lives of four generations of her family – this will never be forgotten by those who loved her so dearly. Leah worked multiple jobs in her lifetime. She was an avid and talented artist who put her skills to work early in her life as a colorist – adding color to black and white photographs. She also worked in retail at both Creaghan’s and Eatons. The family would like to sincerely thank Leah’s many care-givers and friends who so willingly spent precious time with her during the last few years of her life.
