Alfred “Unc” Karl Reichle was born on June 16, 1908 in Endersbach, Germany. At the time of his passing on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, Alfred was living at Kopera Care Home. Alfred was predeceased by his wife Ingeborg Scharein; parents Friederik Reichle and Christine Popp; brothers Wilhelm, Adolf, Oscar; sisters Martha and Ernestine as well as his very special friend Erna Mannweiler. He leaves his daughter Christa (Duane Hayunga); grandsons Stephen and Justin as well as many nieces and nephews and long time friends to celebrate his very long and good life. Alfred completed grade seven in public school and at age 14 began his 3 ½ year apprenticeship to become a tailor in Waiblingen Germany. At the age of 18 Alfred began work in a factory in Meinz Germany doing tailoring piece work for 1 ½ years. At the age of 20 in 1928 Alfred Immigrated to Canada arriving in Halifax. From there he traveled by train to North Battleford were he spent the first 3 months working on a farm. In November of 1928 he went to work in a tailor shop in North Battleford, from there he moved to Lloydminster in 1932 were he spent 1 year working as a tailor. In 1933 Alfred moved to Prince Albert to work for Ralph Miller Men’s Wear for 24 years. In addition to his job as a tailor from 1935 to 1939 Alfred was a Gymnastics Instructor at P.A.C.I. On July 5, 1954 Alfred and Ingeborg Scharien were married in Prince Albert. In August of 1956 Alfred and Ingeborg moved to Victoria where Alfred worked in a clothing store. On December 4, 1956 their daughter Christa was born. In 1958 Alfred and his family moved back to Prince Albert were he started his own Business Alf’s Men’s Wear and Tailoring. In 1983 at the age of 75 Alfred retired. He was an honorary member of the Prince Albert Fish and Game League, honorary member of the Elks Club from 1948 to present day, honored by the Prince Albert Police Service at his retirement for his many years of tailoring service. Alfred was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many days fishing with his nephews Heinz and Edgar. Alfred enjoyed the outdoors as well as gardening. Alfred cared for Ingeborg until her passing in November of 1985. After Ingeborg’s passing Alfred and his long time family friend Erna Mannweiler spent many good times together. They enjoyed spending time with each others family and traveling to Germany, across Canada and the USA. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 25 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend Rick Johnson will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
