MUDRY - Frank Thomas, 94 years, of Swift Current, SK, died peacefully at the Cypress Regional Hospital on November 16, 2011 with family members at his bedside. Frank was born November 9, 1917 at Prelate, SK, to John Kotowich and Valerie Sabat. Following his father’s death during the Spanish influenza epidemic, his mother was re-married to Nick Mudry. Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary; children Patrick, Tom, Marilyn (Stan Lautsch), and David (Laurie Auckland) and grandchildren, Christine (Quin Kleiboer), Eric, Emily (boyfriend Matthew Vaughan), Theresa & Theodore Lautsch, and Jake, Tyler, and Matthew Mudry as well as extended family who provided love & support across the miles. Frank was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings, Josephine (John Van Ziffle), John (Mary), Matt (Eleanor) as well as by numerous in-laws on the Stronski side of the family. Frank was a WWII veteran, having been a prisoner of war twice. After the war, he attended the University of Sask. and convocated with a Bachelor of Education degree. His teaching career spanned 35 years. In retirement, Frank was active with the Superannuated Teachers of Sask., the 3rd & 4th Degrees of the Knights of Columbus, Swift Current & District ProLife, the Ursuline Associates, Swift Current Little Theatre, Swift Current Senior Citizens Activity Centre, and the Superannuated Men’s Bridge (Tuesday) group. Frank enjoyed cooking, baking, canning & juicing and especially looked forward to family gatherings. He will be missed by many. Prayer service was lead by Zoria Shumay on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Christ the Redeemer church. Mass of the Resurrection was held at Christ the Redeemer church on November 22, 2011 with Fr. James Owolagba celebrating.
