MYRTLE MEILI
Date de décès : 23 novembre 2011
Myrtle Irene Murchison was born on May 28, 1926 in Mazenod, SK and passed away peacefully on November 23, 2011. She married Werner Meili on November 8, 1948 and they began their married life on the Meili farm at Courval, SK., sharing their first home with her father-in-law and Brazilian step mother-in-law (who by the way knew 7 languages, but not English) until 1950 when they purchased the Coderre Hotel which they ran until 1954. They traded land for the hotel and moved back to the Meili home to farm and raise their family for 7 years. The couple then made the decision to purchase a farm at Mossbank and moved there in April 1961. They retired into the town of Mossbank in 1975 and finally moved to Moose Jaw in 1991 to continue their retirement. Over the years Myrtle was involved with the UCW and the Royal Purple. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, knitting, and playing cards. Fond memories were her trips with Werner to Switzerland, Hawaii, Spain and Eugene, Oregon to visit Werner's brother and wife. Her life-long desire was to visit her father’s birthplace in PEI, and also visit her mother’s birthplace in Ontario. This wish came true in 2007, when she and her daughter shared the trip together. She was delighted to meet her father’s relatives, who toured her around Uigg, PEI, showed her the farm where her father grew up and her grandparents grave sites and shared stories. She then travelled to Ontario and was reunited with 8 first cousins from her mother's side, where more memories and stories were shared. Myrtle is predeceased by her husband Werner; sisters Phemie Stevenson and Nellie Berry; brother Mac Murchison; brothers-in-law, Roy Hepburn, Nick Nestor, Cliff Stevenson, Wilson McIntosh, Walter, Emil, Arnold, and Ernest Meili; sisters-in-law, Margaret Murchison, Phyllis, Julia, and Eileen Meili, Rose Hepburn and Ann Nestor. She leaves to mourn her brother Pete and wife Albina, her children and grandchildren; Wilf (Gail) Meili, Todd (Shaline) Montgomery, Brenda (Mark) Getzlaf; Ken (Joanne) Meili, Sarah (Cody), Lisa (Tyler); Larry Meili, Terri, Tracy (Jay), Dustin (Nicole); Mary Rose (Ted) Kulyk, Paul (Tamzen), Jill (Ross) and Ross Kulyk; and numerous great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10:00 am. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place at the Mossbank Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday evening 7 – 8:30 pm at the Funeral Home. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1. In living memory of Myrtle, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
