Passed peacefully away at age 64 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father Joseph, brother Joe, sister Joan and brother-in-law, Pat Plank. Gord leaves to mourn his loving family: wife, Sheila (Hayward); children: Erin (Duane), Bryan and Tom; and darling grandson, Isaac; mother Rita; sisters: Marilyn Plank, Gwen (Vernon) Smith, Marina (Ronald) FaQuin; brothers: Ron (Jacquie), Raymond; sisters-in-law: Lillian Power and Pat (Keith) Conway, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves to mourn many dear friends, his colleagues at the College of the North Atlantic where he taught for 30 years, life-long friend Gary Corcoran and, of course, his golfing buddies on “The Hill”. Always a supporter of the local music scene, Gord’s favourite music was performed by his own family band who lovingly entertained him right to the end. Remains resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 26th, 2011 from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist at 9:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.
