It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Jim Kelly on Nov. 25, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Neil Kelly Sr. and Joyce (Sudworth) Kelly. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Sara and going fishing. He operated and owned his own business (Kelly’s Shuttle Service). He was a volunteer firefighter in River Denis. He was employed with Devco for 34 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine (Melnick); daughter, Joyce (Donald) Baker, Greenwood, N.S.; son, Robert (Anne) Kelly, Geary, N.B., Peter MacKeigan; grandchildren, Kelly Lynn MacKeigan (Mike DeCoste), Sean MacKeigan, Jessica Kelly Strickland, Shawna Kelly, Taylor Kelly; sisters, Joan (Ray) Graham, Sr. Marie Kelly, Elvina (Butch) Noseworthy, Pat Kelly; Gerald Kelly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Elvina Kelly and Elizabeth McInnis.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Leo Boone officiating.
