Daniel (Francis) McRae

Daniel (Francis) McRae

Lieu de naissance : Glace Bay, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Lieu de décès : Canada
Date de décès : 23 novembre 2011

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Daniel McRae on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, (his father’s birthday). After a long difficult battle with cancer he passed away in the hands of his children, fighting up to his last breath. He is now reunited in the presence of the Lord with his wife Kaye, his parents, Hazard and Annie McRae, his sister Mary Louise (Vanderlee) and his brother Jack.
Born June 16, 1930 in Glace Bay, N.S., (also formerly of Mira, N.S.). When he was 18, he moved to Ontario where he met and married his beloved Kaye (Chordis, formerly of Birch Grove, N.S.) and raised four children. As a skilled Machinist, he proudly worked on the AVRO Arrow; then later retrained as a millwright, and retired after 25 years with Chrysler Canada. Not one to sit idle, he then spent many years delivering flowers. He was an avid outdoorsman and dog lover. He dearly loved his miniature poodle, Corky, who was by his side for 14 years, until Corky passed away this year.
He looked forward to family gatherings at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving where he enjoyed laughing, telling stories of his childhood days in Cape Breton and of reminiscing about his dear family and friends still in Nova Scotia. He made annual treks back home to Cape Breton and dreamed of moving back one day but with the arrival of five adored grandchildren, he and Kaye chose to stay in Ontario. He genuinely loved his grandkids and enjoyed cooking them pancake breakfasts, telling them ghost stories, battling in sword fights with them and rewarding them weekly with coins for hard work at school.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Ken (Margie), Mark, Morgan (Sandy) Kathy (Dave) and by his five grandchildren, Rachel, Megan, Meadow, Zachary and Avery.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Peel’ Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N of QEW) from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 30. Memorial Mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1290 McBride Ave., Mississauga.
If desired, donations may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Condolences may also be sent to danmcrae81@gmail.com.
