HAY, VERA I. - 1919-2011 - Miramichi - Vera Isabella Hay, of Edward Street, Miramichi and formerly of Black River Bridge and Amherst, N.S., passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the age of 92. Born in Chaham, on September 23, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Barbara E. (MacNaughton) Hay. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Wandlyn Inns, in Amherst, N.S. She is survived by two sons, William A. (Chum) Block (Linda), of Amherst, N.S. and Douglas Hay, of Hamilton, Ont.; three grandsons, Glen Block, of Amherst, Sheila Block, of Springhill, N.S., Stephen Block, of Amherst, N.S.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family, being predeceased by five sisters, Janet LaThrop, Elizabeth Budd, Margaret Dick, Evelyn Moore, Ruth Dickson; four brothers, James, Maxwell, Albert and Frank Hay.
Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.
