Trenton - James Frederick Christison, age 87, of Strickland Ave., Trenton, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Pictou Landing, he was a son of the late David Roy and Mary (Mason) (MacPherson) Christison.
He was a retired electrician working at the N.S. Power Generating Plant for 33 years, after which he started his own electrical business. He served in the Navy during the Second World War. He was a member of Saint Georges Anglican Church; Admiral Murray Royal Canadian Naval Association; Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, Trenton and Doric Masonic Lodge No. 91. He was a volunteer with New Glasgow, Pictou Landing and Trenton Fire Departments. He was a volunteer at the Trenton Rink.
He is survived by daughters: Faye and Gail, both of Trenton; son: Craig (Lori), Trenton; sisters-in-law: Yvonne (Donnie) Fraser, Little Harbour; Helen Barter, Red Deer, Alberta; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Gloria (Cooke); daughter Fern; brothers: Charles Christison; David “Moonie” Christison; Mason MacPherson; George MacPherson and Fernie MacPherson; sisters: Ann Horseman; Margarite Cameron; Thelma MacDonald and Charlotte Bourbeau.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service 2 pm Wednesday in Saint Georges Anglican Church with Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.
Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Trenton and the Admiral Murray Royal Canadian Naval Association will meet at the funeral home at 6:15 pm Tuesday to conduct their service.
