MORESIDE – Reagh Alvin - It is with sadness that the family announce the death of Reagh Moreside on Dec 11, 2011 at Swift Current Hospital at the age of 87. Reagh was born in Tuberose on Aug. 20, 1924. He is survived by sister in law Elinor Moreside, nephews Garth Moreside, Gordon Moreside (Dianne), Wayne Moreside (Judy Anderson), Owen Moreside, niece Marilyn Bowditch (Ted) and families. Reagh was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Moreside, brothers Stanley, Lloyd, Earle, and Art. In his younger years Reagh attended school in Tuberose, played ball and hockey and was from the generation where walking to school was up hill going both directions, lots of the times walking the railway to town as it passed just outside the farm yard . He was one of the Tuberose spring league ball coaches for many years. In later life Reagh seldom missed a Kyle Elks hockey game. Shortly after finishing school Reagh worked a while 1 mile underground in a nickel mine at Sudbury. This may have provided the funding for an Indian motorcycle that he later rode to Edgar Bath’s to work as a farm hand before getting into his own farming. There have been a few stories about that motorcycle. Even this last summer he would come out to check out our motorcycle when visiting him. A motorboat of his got all nephews and probably his niece into surf boarding and water skiing at Clearwater Lake. Later he got himself a fishing boat that he enjoyed for many years at Sask Landing and some northern fishing trips. He also enjoyed ice fishing in the winter months. Reagh took a notion in 1965 to begin flying. He had 3 different airplanes and continued flying until 1994. Many friends and neighbors got a google earth look at their property and other interesting places. Those airplanes were his greatest joy. Reagh always had treats for the kids including the great nephews and nieces. We will truly miss his quiet manner and kind heart. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Kyle United Church with Brian Watson officiating. The organist was Darlene Smith and the ushers were Lance Moreside and Ted Bowditch. The pallbearers were: Mike Moreside, Jeremy Moreside, Steven Moreside, Bryan Moreside, Chris Davis and Evan Moreside. The interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
