John Scott
SCOTT, John Hugh – 57, of Waverley, passed away suddenly surrounded by family and friends on December 17, 2011 in Halifax. Born in Pictou, raised in Amherst, he was a son of D. Elizabeth “Beth” and the late Hugh Malcolm Scott. John was a “Class A” Member of the Professional Golf Association of Canada, recently receiving his certificate for 25 years as a Golf Professional. He had a wonderful gift for teaching golf, and was one of the most respected golf teachers in Atlantic Canada. He thoroughly enjoyed supporting Junior Golf in Nova Scotia. John was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan, and had a love of all sports. He was a kind, caring and gentle family man, generous to a fault and always thinking of the ‘underdog’. John was our dreamer and our story teller… some stories being ‘taller’ than others! He was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother and friend, a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. John is survived by his wife, Sherry (Salsman) Scott; Daughter, Meredith Scott; Son, Greg Scott; Sisters, Bonnie (Hugh) Davidson, Mary (J.B.) Molson, and Chari (Daniel) Burke; Brothers, Ewen (Joe) (Carolyn), Stephen (Suthisa) and Russell (Lisa Turner); Nieces, Mary-Jane (Jim), Jacqueline, Leslie Scott MacLennan (Tim), Lisa (Derek) Law, Rebecca (Rod) White, Charlotte (Andrew) Smith, Jessica, Emily and Danielle; Nephews, Mitch, Santi, Dylan, MacKenzie, Madison and Alexander. He is also survived by parents in law, Whiley and Betty Salsman; Sister and Brother in law, Annette and Darren Cossar. He was also be missed by his beloved dog, Bogey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St, Dartmouth, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, followed by a reception in the funeral home reception centre.
