Date de décès : 18 décembre 2011

It is with heavy hearts and deep regret that we, the family of Richard ‘Dick’ MacLeod, announce his passing on Dec. 18, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, he was the eldest son of the late Baden and Ida (Attwood) MacLeod.
Dick worked in the coal mines and retired in 1987.
He loved fishing, playing the guitar, dancing and especially loved going to hear Dinky Cameron and Joe Waye. At one time he loved to make model airplanes, also gardening and skating.
Poppy loved spending time with his grandchildren, doing lots of things with them and for them. He also had a soft spot for animals, especially his old buddy ‘Pepper.’
He got enjoyment sitting on his front step in the summer, telling stories and jokes with his friends, as well as his love for the Yankees and Packers. Dad was also a member of the Scotchtown Pensioners Club.
He is survived by son, Baden (Alicia); daughters, Wanda (Hatem) Abdelitif, Marjorie (Daniel) Daix and Jeanne (Chris) Marshall; brother, Johnny (Marg), Ontario; sisters, Alice (Doug) Beaton, Ontario, and Mary (Danny) Steiger, Mira; grandchildren, Howie, Lisa, Daniel, Richard, Evan and Wyatt (the boss) and his first great-grandchild due to arrive in the new year.
Besides his parents, Dad was also predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Wadden), brothers, Baden (Buddy), Gussy, Tommy, sisters, Renee, Cassie and a sister in infancy, Marjorie (Peewee).
A special thanks to a close and dear friend of our father and his family, Marg Rizzo, who was always there for Dad when he needed her. A very special thanks to the palliative care, especially Dr. Ritter and Beth Latham, who took special care of Dad during his difficult time and made sure he was comfortable in his last days.
Our Dad was truly an amazing person whose heart was so filled with love and kindness. He always made time for his family and friends, whether to lend a helping hand or just a kind word, that was our Dad. We love you Dad.
Visitation will take place Thursday, Dec. 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500 and a chapel service will be in the funeral home chapel Friday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m. with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery with luncheon at the Army and Navy, Smith Street. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to palliative care unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
