With much sadness the family of Garry Langille, age 67, of Amherst announce his peaceful passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre with his family by his side on Friday, December 23, 2011.
Born in Wallace, NS, he is a son of Agnes (Thompson) Langille Ripley and the late Norman Langille.
A career military person, Garry served with distinction with the Canadian Air Force and Navy for 33 years. During these years he was assigned to tours in Israel (Golan Heights) and Bosnia. Retiring in 1994, he was an avid golfer and returned to Amherst in 2008.
Garry will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years, Sandra (Leary); his mother Agnes Langille Ripley, Amherst; a daughter, Kelly (Darel) Baker, AB; 2 sons, Ron (Laurie) ON and Jody (Yvette), AB; 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Aleesha, Nicole, Alex and April; 4 brothers, Lee (Judy), Wayne (Anna), Ralph (Colleen) and Cyril (Peggy); a sister, Darlene (Roland) O'Blenis; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Norman Langille.
Garry's remains have been cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) . Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Garry's life on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Furlong Jones Funeral Home from 2 to 4 pm.
