O WAYNE MILLS
O Wayne Mills, 70 of Dartmouth, formerly of Truro, passed away December 24, 2011 peacefully at home with family by his side. Born in Truro he was a son of the late T. Welden Mills and Julia Mills (Sheppard).
He was the member of the COPS on patrol, he was involved heavily in Amateur Radio and operated his own repeater under his father's call sign VE1NZ he was well known to everyone in the ham radio community as "The Agu" after his call sign VE1AGU. Wayne helped out with the ships at sea running phone patches. He worked with the local politicians to help make our city a better place to live. When living in Truro he started a Rock and Roll Band the Nova Tones and had a #1 hit in the Maritimes.
He is survived by the love of his life of 50 years Inez (MacMasters), daughter Kim "Peachy" (Stephen) Cahill, Connecticut, sons, Rick (Jackie), Goose Bay, NFLD, Todd (Jennifer), Ontario, two grandchildren Aaron and Julianna, brother George (Muriel), NB, several nieces and nephews, uncle, cousins.
He will be missed by his best buddy Max his faithful dog of 14 years.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6-9 pm Wednesday in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main St. Dartmouth. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday December 29 in Atlantic Funeral home Chapel, Rev. Blake Caldwell officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
