COUGHLAN, MARY PATRICIA - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia, our mother and grandmother on December 26, 2011. Patricia was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, the daughter of the late Frank C. and Florence (Halpin) Owens. She graduated from St. Vincent’s Girls’ High School in 1943 and attended the Business Program at the Saint John Vocational School and then later was employed with the Federal Income Tax Department. She remained active in the Knights of Columbus operettas and sang at several venues throughout the City of Saint John. In 1949, Patricia married John C. Coughlan, and for several years, they lived on Grand Manan Island, NB, where John practiced law; and then in Alberta until he was appointed to the Provincial Court of Alberta in 1966. Patricia was predeceased by John in 1977; and later by her sister, Frances (George) Flood and brothers, William, Edward and George. Patricia will be sadly missed by her children: Sean of Kelowna, BC, Coleen (James) Anderson and Catherine (Angus Boyd) of Edmonton, AB, and Eileen (Donald Gee) of Calgary, AB; and her grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Johnathon, Caitlin, Thomas, Cole, Georgia and Devon. She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine Boyle of Ottawa, ON and Elizabeth J. Owens of Fredericton, NB; and brother, James F. Owens of Saint John, NB.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Connelly McKinley Funeral Homes with a Funeral Mass on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church at 7508 - 29 Avenue, Edmonton.
