Lawrence Arthur Arenburg - 81, of Steam Mill, Kings County, formerly of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at home. Born in Billtown, he was a son of the late Albert and Alice (Bezanson) Arenburg. He worked on Charlie Moore’s farm until he was 19 and was later employed as a carpenter, retiring at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife, Joan; a son Lawrence Jr. “Larry” (Gloria) Oshawa, Ontario; six step-children, Terry (Carmie) Strickland, New Minas; Trena (Roger) Ells, Cambridge; Betty (Larry) Huntley, Canning; Maxine (Vincent) Coleman, Steam Mill; Rickey Strickland, Sheffield Mills and Rhonda (Trevor) Strickland, Berwick; five sisters, Ethel Black, Lunenburg; Marjorie (Phillip) Huntley, Greenwich; Doreen, Black River; Marie Smith, New Minas; Sheila (Terry) Vidito, Kentville; six brothers, Arnold (Hazel), Oshawa, Ontario; Everett (June), Kentville; Lloyd, North Alton; Gerald (Pat), Port Williams; Ernie (Lillian), Prospect; Stanley (Ruth), Port Williams; five grandchildren, Jane, Laura, Bernard Jr., Danielle and Christopher; three great grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Bernard; two sisters, Bernice and Jean; a brother, Shirley; a step grandchild and a step great grandchild. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, The Reverend Lynn Uzans officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
