It is with sad hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Deborah (Jackson) Barry of Sydney Mines on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Ellen (Butts) Jackson.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 37 years, Dennis Barry; her five children, Sabrina (Brad), Angie (Robert), Lisa (Patrick Smith), D.J. (Marcy) and Jamie (Robin); and her five beautiful granddaughters, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Janelle, Lola and Carly. Also surviving are her brothers, Johnny (Jeannie), Wayne (DeDe), Kippy (Lorraine), Terry (Lorna) Banks; and her sisters, Vi Gove, Sheila (Jip) LeBlanc, Sandra (Brian) May and June (Blake) Hawkins. Also left to mourn are her many nieces, nephews and her best friend, Theresa Todd.
Debbie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her caring ways show through her children. She was the most caring, honest and understanding person you could ever meet, always willing to listen, never judging and putting everyone else first. Her caring ways have taught us children well and will guide us through this difficult time.
We would like to thank the nurses of the Glace Bay ICU and the nurses on the 5th floor, Northside General Hospital along with Jerry Buffett (RT) all of whom went and beyond their call of duty.
Visitation today (Tuesday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
