We regret to announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Margaret Catherine MacDonald, on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Clarkson) Cameron.
Margaret was a school teacher for many years, teaching in various schools throughout Cape Breton, and retiring from Georges River Elementary.
She was a member of St. Andrew Church in Boisdale, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Margaret is survived by her five children, Robert (Paula) Keefe, North Sydney, Patricia (Dave) Gysbers, Boisdale, Lloyd (Debbie) Keefe, Lower Sackville, Laura (Lloyd) Daye, North Sydney, Cheryl Urquhart (Mike), Welland, Ont.; also by her 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd Keefe, her second husband, Roderick MacDonald, her son, William Keefe, her three daughters, Blanche Long, Marilyn Keefe, Jamie LeBlanc, two granddaughters, Denise Keefe, Sarah Urquhart, and a sister, Blanche Cameron.
To respect Margaret’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place, and burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery in Sydney Mines.
Services have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
