ROY, ALBAN - Alban Roy, 88, of Auberge du Soleil, Dieppe and formerly of Notre-Dame passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital, Moncton. Born June 10, 1923 in Cocagne, he was the son of the late Francis and Arthémise (LeBlanc) Roy. Alban served with the Royal Canadian Army in Canada during the Second World War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #6, Moncton. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Dorchester Penitentiary. Alban is survived by his wife Thérèse (Bourque) Roy of Auberge du Soleil in Dieppe, a daughter Rose Marie Roy-LeBlanc (Roméo) of Notre-Dame, his adopted sister Jeannita Belliveau (late Yvon) of Scoudouc; two grandchildren: Danielle and Stephan; five great grandchildren: Jonathan, Jessica, Sarah, Jacob, Austin and by many nieces and nephews. He is the last member of his immediate family. Predeceased by several siblings: Tilmon, Henri, Robert, Délia Collette (late Edmond), Élise Roy, Irène Boucher (late Georges) and Ida Cummings (late Ephrem).
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held at Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur Roman Catholic Church in Notre-Dame on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment of the ashes will be in the parish cemetery in Notre-Dame.
