Daisy Irene Chapman 89 years of Springhill, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 in High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the Late Thomas A. and Daisy A. (Williams) Corkin.
During her working years she was employed with Oxford Frozen Foods and was a member of St. Andrews Wesley United Church, Springhill and the Springhill Curling Club. She was an avid sports person, she especially enjoyed curling, an excellent cook and avid entertainer. Daisy was never one to complain and enjoyed being at the cottage in Lorneville, snowmobiling, dancing, playing the guitar and especially her family and friends.Daisy will be sadly missed by daughters, Gerene Roode and Dorothy (Keith) Meagher, both of Springhill; son, Gary "Joe" (Rosemary) Harrison, Springhill; step sons, Carl (Greta) Chapman, Dartmouth, David (Gloria) Chapman, James River and Gary Chapman, Windham; 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Barton, Springhill; brother, Howard (Delhia) Corkin, Ontario; sister in law Mary Corkin, New Waterford; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl B. Chapman; sisters, Hilda Brown and Lily Rolfe; brothers, Thomas, Douglas, Lawrence and Norman; daughter in law, Carol Chapman; grandson, Paul Chapman; nephew, Lawrence Rolfe.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 followed immediately at 2:00 pm by a Memorial Service. Burial in Mapleton Cemetery, Cumb. Co., at a later date.
