It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Charles Halloran, on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles and Greta (Blackburn) Halloran.
He was a member of the United Commercial Travellers. He worked in his earlier years at CNR, Modern City Dairy, and he was an Esso Oil Agent. After retiring from Esso, he drove taxi and a school bus. He enjoyed skating, bowling, walking, and listening to Eagles hockey games.
Charles is survived by his two daughters, Dolena (Sheldon) Andrews N.B. and Mary (Gerard) DeWolfe, Sydney; three grandchildren, Keith Andrews, Sheldon (Paula) Planetta, Sara (Stephen) Planetta Rose; five great grandchildren, Ethan, Ronin, and Callum Rose, Emily and Michael Planetta.
He is also survived by his two sisters, Rose Buchanan, Sydney, Donna (Phil) Kirby, Pictou; three brothers, Robert ‘Bob’ Halloran, James ‘Jim’ Halloran, both of Sydney, Earl (Ilda) Halloran, Dawson Creek, B.C. as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Edna; sister, Carol, and brother, Roy.
Visitation will be held today (January 13, 2012) at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be take place 1 p.m. Saturday January 14, 2012 in the funeral home chapel with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
