It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Sheila Macdonald of Rudderham Road, Point Edward on Jan. 14, 2012, at the Halifax Infirmary surrounded by her loving family.
Sheila was born June 3, 1940, in North Sydney.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Kenneth (Paula), Point Edward; daughters, Judy (Tom), Coxheath, Tara, Sydney, and Sharon, Sydney. Mom’s children blessed her with four grandchildren, Adrianna, Michaela, Ryan and Chloe whom ‘Meme’ cherished and loved unconditionally. Mom also loved her many nieces and nephews who grew up and lived next door. Sheila is also survived by brothers, Dennis, California, Kevin (Gail), Coxheath, Daniel, Beechmont, Patrick, Sydney, Timothy, North Sydney; and sister, Anne, Bridgewater; sister-in-law, Joanne, Kentucky.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Christopher (in 1985), her parents, Sidney and Mary Quinn, and brother, Michael.
Sheila enjoyed working at St. Rita’s Hospital and in her later years at Breton Bay nursing home. She will be remembered as a very gentle, kind and caring soul who always put others first. She always made herself available to friends and neighbours in need. Among her many enjoyments was her love of animals, especially dogs.
Sheila was a member of St. Georges Parish in Sydney.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m at Sydney Memorial Chapel with Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Point Edward.
