MCALEENAN, MARION JEANETTE - Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on January 15, 2012, Mrs. Marion Jeanette (Harmon) McAleenan, wife of the late Patrick Donald McAleenan of St. George, NB. Born at Digdequash, NB on June 26, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lila (Thomas) Harmon. A loving, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by two sons; Peter (Marielle) McAleenan and Michael (Loretta) McAleenan both of St. George, NB, daughter, Patricia Bartlett of St. George, NB, step daughter, Carol (John) Meehan of Essex England, five grandchildren; Jason (Kate) McAleenan of Calgary AB, Shelly McAleenan (Matt Bruce) of Halifax, NS, Seth Bartlett of Calgary, AB, Chris McAleenan (Jackie Fitzsimmons) of Oak Bay, NB and Jenna McAleenan of Fredericton, NB, one great grandson, Michael McAleenan, two brothers; Pearson Harmon of Bocabec, NB and Leo (Janet) Harmon of St. Andrews, NB, two sisters; Hazel (Fred) Rossi of British Columbia and Bessie Holland of Saint John, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one grandson, Baby McAleenan, two brothers; Henry and Fred Harmon and four sisters; Helen Gowan, Mildred Landry, Nellie Borthwick and Freda Young. In her later years Marion loved to attend yard sales and enjoyed having them as well. She enjoyed Poetry and had a passion for Genealogy as she researched for two books on the McAleenan and Harmon families. In her early years, she wrote for the St. Croix Courier. Marion lived for her family and grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. George's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:30 am with Father Rolando Suplido officiating. The interment will take place at the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
